Ever wonder what are the best plants for your health? Green architecture activist Kamal Meattle shares the top three plants he thinks can make a big difference to your indoor air quality. And he should know! He designed the Paharpur Business Centre and Software Technology Incubator Park in New Delhi in 1990 to feature an air-cleaning system that involves huge numbers of plants (over 1200 of them) instead of HVAC equipment. The Park publishes its air quality index every day on its website. Watch the video and check out his recommendations!

The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation has a three-story bio-wall which is connected to its HVAC system. As the air passes through the plants and into the office space, the plants filter out the VOCs and carbon dioxide, making for better air quality (not to mention a really beautiful focal point of the office!).

bonus: mother-in-law's tongue/snake plant/sansevieria are pretty much the easiest plant to take care of. they can go weeks without water and need little light.

Time to get more plants! the Mother-in-law's tongue is ideal for my little basement. I find that my room gets really stuffy at night, so hopefully this will help. (PS Ikea sells good sized Areca palms for cheap!)
