One organization in Austin, Metamorphosis Arte, is making sure that they don't just fill empty walls with paint when they sponsor public murals, but rather ensure that clear and long lasting social messages are created. Murals are simple and fun ways that many groups of people can get involved with bettering a public space, and often these public art installations can be enjoyed right away. Murals are a great way for anyone of any age to get involved in spreading positive community messages, which often cover environmental and sustainable topics. Along with murals, Metamorphosis Arte also sponsors parades that often rally the community in a fun and engaging manner.

Local residents in Austin this weekend will have the opportunity to learn about Metamorphosis Arte first hand while helping better the community during one of their mural painting and community potluck sessions this Saturday, February 14th 1:00p-4:00p at the Texas School for the Deaf, 1102 South Congress Avenue. They are looking for volunteers and all are welcome to join in the fun and community bettering (though follow the links to RSVP so they know how much supplies to bring).
