Art is usually beautiful on its own, but when it also has environmental and social implications — like L.A. Marler's Oil is History series of photographs — it can also convey a point. See more about this series or art, which depicts the remnants of a much less efficient automobile, after the jump.

Louise Marler's photos depict an imperfect world with "an assorted collection of cherished elements, some broken, torn or rusty." Her series Oil is History depicts rusty and aging car forms that have fallen by the wayside — the say fate many of us hope that oil will have.

Marler also uses more eco-sensitive digital printing for her work, and frames them in reclaimed materials. Prints area available via her gallery or website. See more of her art LAMarler.com.
