We saw these over at AT:LA today and were smitten! These handcrafted one-of-a-kind clocks pair beautiful dishes with complimentary hardware, and we think they all look stunning. A wonderful creative reuse.

Here's a gift we'd happily receive this holiday season: A limited edition BPA-free Kor water vessel. Proceeds from the sales of the bottles go to nonprofits working to protect the environment.
When I entertain, I always go the extra mile when giving directions to my home. If guests plan their route with the assistance of a web source, they will no doubt be sent over incredibly steep, 'Frisco-style hills. These gargantuan inclines often strike fear in the hearts of first-time visitors (plus they get folks lost)--this is where good directions come into play.
Disguised in a familiar looking tissue box, these tissues by Better for GrownUps are actually reusable and are a strong contender in our cloth or paper tissue debate.
Stokke's nursery products go easy on the environment, as they're made with untreated wood, organic fibers, and packaged and shipped with environmental feasibility in mind. Their Care Changing Table actually transforms to meet a variety of furniture needs as your child grows — maintaining function long beyond that of a traditional table.
The moment we stumbled upon the work of metal artist Tammy Roy, we fell in love with both her unique pieces and her eco-friendly design philosophy. Roy, who describes herself as "completely obsessed with reuse," takes scrap metal from salvage yards and dumpsters and transforms it into a selection of home accessories and occasional custom pieces.
There's no mistaking that the holiday season is here, and chances are at one point or another, you'll be having people over. When we host guests, we always hope to keep them comfortable—which we assume means stepping outside of our green living parameters. But it doesn't have to! Here are a few ways to be eco-friendly and a good host.
Thanksgiving is next week! Apart from the turkey, the stuffing and the pumpkin pie, have you finalized the rest of your menu? Made your shopping list? Do you have enough servingware? What about enough cookware? If you're considering adding a few pots and pans, you might want to take a look at 360 Cookware's collection. Not only is it green, but it might remove some of the stress that comes from juggling a bunch of pots on stove all at once. (Watch a video below the jump!)
We don't use honey for much more than sweetening our tea. However, it's another one of those super-versatile household ingredients. We wouldn't recommend cleaning with it, but you might want to put an extra jar in your medicine cabinet.
With Thanksgiving around the corner, we have been contemplating gratitude not just for the good food in our lives, but also for the farmworkers whose unseen hard labor brings this nourishment to our tables. We just watched a new online documentary on this subject, called Fair Food: Field to Table, and highly recommend it.
This image of a masonry heater looked so warm and cozy we had to share. Masonry heaters, also known as Finnish fireplaces, are fast becoming an appealing heating alternative to traditional wood-burning fireplaces. While it may look like a regular fireplace, a masonry heater works differently by storing a large amount of heat from its rapidly-burning fire within its masonry mass and slowly releasing that heat into the home throughout the day – sometimes for as long as 18-24 hours after the fire has gone out.
