It was surprisingly chilly for LA during the Thanksgiving holiday, but we've been putting off turning on the heater. Instead, we picked up a box of Java-Logs while doing some last-minute grocery shopping before the turkey feast began. After all, the idea of having the first fire of the season with family and friends was irresistible. In the past, we've been getting wood from the local firewood yard, so we were cautious about these Java-Logs being able to live up to the real deal...

Do-gooder Brad Pitt unveiled The Pink Project yesterday on the Today show with a heartfelt plea: help build 150 homes in New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward. We've blogged about his Make it Right project earlier this fall, and we're excited to see that Pitt's residential vision for New Orleans is making moves forward. The Pink Project is an art installation of sorts: 150 frames are swathed in bright pink fabric, representing one house that will be built with the help of donations.

We don't usually pop into DWR for fear that the sweet, sweet sounds of Saarinen will magically swipe our credit cards to the limit, but when we saw the Gisele Lounge chair, we had to try it out. Designed by Aristeu Pires with the help of his newspaper, this chair is handcrafted in Brazil using sustainable hardwood and wrapped with natural cotton rope.
