We've been looking at this thing and reading about for a little while now -- and it is still inexplicably amusing.
It looks like Kit from Knight Rider ... but it also looks like something my little brother drove around the backyard when he was 3.
But it's a lawnmower. And it's pretty far from a good old-fashioned push-mower.
It's an automatic, solar hybrid lawn mower.
It's way cooler than the gas-guzzling emission-spewing models that are out there right now ... but still, we have a hard time believing it's better for the environment than a push-version.
In what context would a mower like this beat out a push mower? What do you think?

The most green thing to do is to never mow at all. Replacing grass with native plants and hardscaping eliminates carbon emissions and fertilizer usage, greatly reduces water usage, and benefits wildlife. Lawns, especially in warmer climates where they are not covered by snow for a good part of the year and drier climates where watering is required, are very big environmental problems. There's nothing green about a solar lawnmower.
