Green Ideas: Ten Ways to Use Baking Soda To Care For Your Baby

We all know baking soda is a great natural cleanser and deodorizer, but you may not have thought of all the ways you can use it to clean baby and kids' stuff.

The folks at DIY Naturally posted a good list of uses last Spring which we think are worth taking a look at. We'll get you started with a few and encourage you to check out their post for more.

  1. To clean cribs, changing tables, baby mattresses, and playpens, sprinkle baking soda on a damp sponge and wipe down. Rinse and allow to dry.
  2. Clean metal, plastic, or vinyl strollers, car seats, and high chairs by applying baking soda directly with a damp sponge. Wipe baking soda clean, rinse and allow to dry.
  3. Remove odors from strollers and car seats by sprinkling baking soda on the fabric. Let stand for 20 minutes and vacuum.

You can also find some good ideas at Arm & Hammer's website for using baking soda to clean the nursery, the playroom and more. Originally posted by Carrie on Ohdeedoh.

Sprinkle plenty of baking soda in your dirty diaper bin (cloth or disposable) to absorb the odor and - in the case of cloth - help clean them.

Also entertain your toddler or preschooler by making baking soda/vinegar volcanoes. After several months, my 4 year old is still enthralled.
