When we hear "ottoman" we think tufted, rectangular, maybe tweed (who knows why). This one blows all our preconceptions out of the water.

The frame is bamboo and the fabric is hemp, both of which are rapidly-renewable natural resources. Also only non-toxic adhesives are used and non-VOC oil. What's not to love? Well, it's $1,200. But it comes in white and gray, and has a pretty Matisse-style bird motif on top, so... maybe?
Available through Vivavi.

Out of my price range, but lovely. Why isn't this a storage piece? I don't understand why every ottoman is not for storage.
