We've been looking forward to week 7 of the Green Cure (a.k.a. bedroom week) for quite some time.
Our bedroom looks nice from a distance, but lift our duvet and it's a different story. The sheets have seen better days. Threadbare would be one way to describe them; holey would be another. So we've decided to treat ourselves to a set or two of organic cotton sheets.
If we had a more flexible budget, we might invest in a set of Bella Pura 325TC Organic Cotton Sheets from Anna Sova (they come highly recommended by Josh Dorfman in his book The Lazy Environmentalist).
As Dorfman explains in the book: "25 percent of all pesticides are used on cotton, and those pesticides remain in the cotton for the life of the fiber."
We just don't want to sleep that way anymore.
Luckily, last weekend at Target we stumbled across their line of Organic Cotton Sheets and Pillowcases. The thread count may be a bit lacking, but these sheets are relatively affordable at $49.99 for a Queen set. They're also produced with "eco-friendly dyes."
We'll be buying from Target; however, for those of you who are interested in Anna Sova, a small selection of sizes and colors in the Bella Pura Organic Cotton Sheet Collection are actually on sale. Still pricey, but seriously reduced!
Any other brands of organic sheets that come highly recommended?

I have the Target ones and they are absolutely fantastic! Very soft and silky.

OK, I've been on an all-organic fine bedding kick ever since I got my co-op and bought a real bed and an organic futon and wool mattress pad, etc. I was lucky enough to snag a set of deep indigo 400 thread count anna sova cotton sheets on sale for a pittance a couple of years ago. Very nice. Though I wish I could afford the current variety.
I myself have been really enjoying the eco-silk bedding (talk about an uptick in price!) which I get a little at a time as the sales happen at vivaterra.com and gaiam.com and even annasova (yet those are stratospheric so far).
My next dream is the 100% bamboo sheets. Though I've been eyeing the vivaterra ones, I'll prob spring for the bed bath and beyond ones, at half the price and facility of purchase.
As for experience: the colorful organic sateen 250 tc cotton sheets from gaiam are quite nice. The viva terra eco-silk are fabulous. AS are the natural latex pillows on sale at overstock.com. It's a lot of OCD trolling of the internet, but it pays off in luxurious happy sleep.

I see all this interesting discussion and am very confused. I have been manufacturing organic cotton sheets for 15 years and it amazes me how deceived the general public is. Many of these sheet manufacturers are using highly chemical dyes, not the organically approved dyes and many are using chemicals in the processing. All bamboo is chemically processed like Rayon. These chemicals do so much harm. Legally if a person grows a fiber and has it certified, they can process with any chemicals and still call it organic. Just like these manufacturers of orgnaic mattresses and pillows that use synthetics but do not mention them. My company has always done the absolutely purest mattresses, pillows, sheets and more at the most competitive pricing while maintaining integrity of product from growing to arrival at a customer's door. If anyone would like to visit us, come to www.purerest.com and see what real organic is. I guess the problem is organic does not mean chemical free to our competitors.

Listen, I know this post is old, but I need to tell someone! I do a lot, and I mean a lot, of shopping online. Anna Sova has the WORST e-commerce experience I have ever encountered. Nothing is ever in stock; just try to order a complete set of anything and dress your bed. Utter frustration! When I finally did put a look together and in the sizes I needed, the web page threw me off and declared and error when attempting to finalize the transaction. Did I buy something or did it not go through? I called "Sean" the only person you can get in touch with and after many attempts to reach him, he finally answered and yes, my order did go through. Great. 4 days later, "Uh, Sean, did my order get shipped? I received no email confirmation about anything." His response, "It appears it was picked, let me go see if it is sitting in back waiting to go out, I'll call you back." 3 days later, "Uh, Sean (again to voice mail agent) it's me again. Did my order go out? I'm going out of town and will need to know what's up." 2 voice mails later, "...yes it was shipped. Here is the tracking number." Input tracking number into UPS search thingy, "INCORRECT TRACKING NUMBER!!!" I called him yet again, and was emailed the correct number indicating it would now be another 10 days before delivery was expected. This on top of numerous errors on the web-site. Honestly, either offer online shopping or don't, but DO NOT operate your business like this. I will not do any shopping for Anna Sova again, it is simply to difficult, unprofessional and I have a very bad impression of them.
