Before & After: Mailbox Umbrella Stand

082509 umbrella mailbox.jpg

The clever folks over at Creative Waste of California found this beat up old mailbox at the dump and decided to give it a new life as an umbrella holder. Check out the results of their DIY project after the jump...

082509 umbrella mailbox3.jpgThe simple DIY only required a quick sanding of the rusty areas followed by a thorough coating inside and out with rust-proof spray paint. A few decorative touches in the form of little blue "droplets" hint at the mailbox's new purpose holding rainy day paraphernalia. Not bad for the cost of a can of paint and a little elbow grease!

We came home from visiting family and our umbrella had fallen down and jammed between a bookshelf and the door!
We couldn't even get in!! Now, to find a discarded mailbox.
I also saw on TV where they put 6 mailboxes together and put a wood top on it. Family member put their things in it as they came in the door. Hats, gloves and shoes, etc.
