50 Ways to Use Less, Waste Less
Blogging Natural Home magazine

1-14-2009pushmower.jpgWe're slow to settle on new year's resolutions. Here it is, January 14, and we still haven't finalized our list. We figure we have about two more weeks to mull it over.

In the meantime, we think the title of an article in this month's Natural Home magazine is a good place to start: "Put Your Life on a Diet." As a component of the article, Natural Home has listed 50 ways to use less and waste less this year. Our favorites are after the jump.

Some of the ideas are a bit obvious, but they're still good reminders. Here are our favorite use less, waste less tips from Natural Home's article "Put Your Life on a Diet":

  • Use fewer household cleaners. Try soap and water, baking soda, or vinegar instead.
  • Avoid shopping for fun.
  • Share a lawnmower and tools with your neighbors.
  • Give gently used books and magazines to a nursing home, hospital library, or literacy group.
  • Save dingy towels, holey T-shirts, and old sheets for cleaning rags and dropcloths.
