We've already blogged a bit about the health problems being caused by the formaldehyde in the trailers given to hurricane Katrina survivors.
Now new information is coming to light. According to an investigation by congressional Democrats, "the Federal Emergency Management Agency manipulated scientific research to play down the danger posed by formaldehyde in trailers issued to hurricane victims."
We read a bit more about the issue this morning on CNN.com.
It's a very upsetting issue -- and the most chilling statement might have been this one: "Any level of exposure to formaldehyde may pose a cancer risk, regardless of duration," De Rosa wrote. "Failure to communicate this issue is possibly misleading and a threat to public health."
This story serves as another reminder to keep products that contain formaldehyde out of our homes.

with all the amazing green designs for prefab trailers ... why couldn't the gov't use something better? obviously they screwed up on so many levels for katrina but for next time, let's hope it gets better for the next disaster!
