We may be recycling more, but we're also buying more... and that means we're throwing out more.
That's the gist of this article in the Oregonian. We especially liked the quote from David Allaway of the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality regarding recycling. "'There's a notion that a full recycling bin indicates environmental progress,' he said. 'We'd rather have more in the recycling bin and less in the garbage. But buying large quantities of stuff and recycling it isn't good for the environment.'"

I know this is a home decor/design blog, thus requiring the occasional product recommendation. But living "green" means buying way, way less.
