Many urban dwellers have embraced the local food movement. Greenmarkets are booming in Manhattan and CSA food boxes are trendy. The New York Times shows us some former urban dwellers have embraced the local food movement even more by becoming farmers themselves...

We get a peek into their new farming lifestyles (which are all wildly different and unique) in At Midlife, Called to a New Field. We're curious to know if ATers woudl move back-to-the-land...what would you farm?

I've been dreaming of farming ever since I fell in love with my small community garden plot. I want a little of everything, including dairy cows, goats, and chickens! Ooh, and I want to learn to can!

This is totally my dream! I'm an architect, and want to someday start my own practice, move out to the country outside of Minneapolis, and start a farm. My girlfriend and I have talked about starting a farm to rescue animals, and we would love to grow our own vegetables. (sigh) Someday...

I grew up on a farm and loved all the perks that came with it, mostly the food. The fresh veggies and fruits were unbeatable. I would definitely move back and have dairy cows plus a huge garden full of my favorites.
