Preservation March/April 2009

In the March/April issue of Preservation we came across a short article on restoring and greening a historic fixer-upper. Rebekah and Stephen Hren embarked on a serious project when they decided to give their 1932 bungalow in Durham, N.C. a green overhaul. One of the things they did over their year-and-a-half renovation was to convert all the heating, cooling and electricity in the house to solar power. They then wrote a book about the experience...

You can purchase their book, The Carbon-Free Home: 36 Remodeling Projects to Help Kick the Fossil-Fuel Habit at Amazon. We haven't read it yet ourselves. Anyone?

Head over to Preservation's website to check out the Hren's 5 Tips to Green Your Home.
