Greenest SF House?
The San Francisco Chronicle

3-30-2009house.jpgIf you were to imagine the greenest home in San Francisco, would it look like this house on 39th Avenue in the city's outer Sunset neighborhood?

(To tell the truth, we were expecting something with a little more flash.)

3-30-2009house2.jpgTo be honest, we're not sure if this home, which was given a total remodel by Helmut Schmidt, is the greenest home in SF; however, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, it's at least one of the greenest.

Schmidt, who also runs a website devoted to spreading the word on sustainable design (sustainableschmidt.com), bought and remodeled this home after being inspired by "An Inconvenient Truth." And, as you might expect, the house has all the bells and whistles: solar power, dual-flush toilets, bamboo cabinetry, salvaged hardwood flooring, etc, etc, etc.

Read the whole article here. If you like the looks, the house is for sale. But, before you get your hopes up .... it's listed at $1.235 million.

It may be green, but it's the worst house to be in in case of an earthquake. Attached and built on sand.

Good point... can building in such an area even be green?
