Cooler

11-01-2007cooler.jpgWe just found something cool ... or, maybe we should say "cooler."

Let's say you were planning to do some online holiday shopping. Maybe a sweater from Macy's for Grandma? Or maybe you need a few things to finish up your Cure? Organic cotton sheets from Target? Before you go immediately to those merchants' online stores, we suggest that you start your shopping at Climatecooler.com. Here's why ...

When you navigate to your favorite retailer through Climatecooler.com (whose tagline is "the smarter you shop, the cooler it gets"), Cooler will calculate the pounds of greenhouse gas produced in the process of manufacturing and shipping your purchases, then the merchant you're buying from pays Cooler a fee, which they invest in projects aimed at eliminating greenhouse gas pollution.

It sounds complicated, but it's really not. You buy directly from the online stores as you normally would with no extra costs tacked on -- just go to Climatecooler.com first, click "shop," find your preferred online merchant (Cooler has partnered with over 350 stores), click, and start shopping.

Does it still sound questionable to you? Cooler is partnered with the National Resource Defense Council, the National Wildlife Federation, and Environmental Defense. And you can read about the projects that they are investing in here.

Check it out!

Sounds too cool to be true! I just signed up so will see how it works. Unfortunately, I don't see Amazon as one of their merchants and that is where I do the majority of my online shopping!
