Gifts From Nature by Matthew Mead

We got a perfectly timed gift over the Thanksgiving – a book, Gifts from Nature. Author Matthew Mead provides simple and sophisticated ideas for household projects, gifts, food recipes, and holiday décor using the best of each season's bounty.

Gifts From Nature focuses on projects using easily found items in nature such as an Easter egg garland, a summer twig trellis, an autumn berry wreath, and many projects making use of evergreens, berries and pinecones during the winter. The book also is full of other tips such as how to forage for food (with recipes), how to make your own bath additives and naturally scented candles and how to keep cut flowers fresh. All the projects seem to be easy and require very little extra materials and money.

We’re looking forward to trying out the pressed leaf ornaments and gift tags, Christmas balls made of pinecones, acorns or leaves, and a silver coated maple leaf wreath for the upcoming holidays.
