Green Grannies: Tips for Saving Money & Living Better

"Hello - I'm Barbara, your Green Granny. I'm here to share a tip or two about how you can save cash and live better." Barbara Warmsley is Oxfam's Green Granny and in their words she has "recession-busting powers". An ideal spokesperson for living sensibly in these tough economic times, she is cheerful, resourceful and the embodiment of a very British sensibility of making do and enjoying it (and her accent is lovely!).

Oxfam started the program and says "there has never been a better time to pick-up pearls of wisdom from pensioners who grew up as part of a less wasteful generation. So Oxfam has recruited a crack team of Green Grannies who are offering advice to the public about everything from how to sew a button on a shirt or darn socks to how to make delicious food from leftovers in the fridge." Fun to watch, though I have to admit I find the way she says "...and I'm your... Green. Granny." ever so slightly creepy.
