For those who travel as green as they live, the Green Vacation Hub online resource allows you to search and select "green" accommodations around the world. We clicked the US, then IL on the world map and our search came up with two Chicago spots: the Hotel Allegro and Hotel Monaco.

Anyone have some green hotel recommendations/experiences?
Two Kimpton properties!
I'm afraid much of this is marketing savvy though. As hotels continue to update themselves to keep efficient and clean, marketers can take advantage of some of these changes. Energy efficient lighting, laundry and water fixtures are all good for the bottom line. Advertising energy efficiency is icing on the cake because people then associate the hotel with "doing the right thing"
I know I'm somewhat cynical but it is interesting to me. Pretty soon it will get to the point where people will say, "everybody uses energy efficient lighting, everybody offers vegetarian" and companies will truly have to think outside of the box or make a serious investment in order to be considered green.
