Survey: Re-nest Book Club: Take Two?

1-23-2008loadsa_books.jpg

As of yesterday, we officially finished the first round of the re-nest book club. We personally enjoyed reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and really appreciated all the comments left throughout the last few weeks by people who were reading along with us.

Now the question is: Do we do it again?

We've learned from a few mistakes already. Next time around, we would definitely take on a more aggressive reading schedule (I'm pretty sure we finished the book a solid month after the rest of you). If we were to do it again, what suggestions do you have? Please answer this quick survey and leave your comments below!

I think we should definitely keep the club going! The tough part about starting it when it did was that it ran right over the holidays, which is a crazy time for everyone. I think it will be even more successful when it is not overlapped by a big holiday.

I liked the book club a lot, although I definitely lost momentum when I finished the book weeks before the club did... it was hard to post thoughtfully when I couldn't remember what was in each chapter. Maybe we should make the time period the same length as the average library loan, since my copy ended up 21 days overdue! ;)

I liked the idea of the book club, but would like a shorter schedule. Or as an alternative, AT Green could post when they start reading a book, giving us notice to either read it too or refresh our memories, then when AT posts a review we could all join in with our own reviews? It'd be less formal than a bookclub, not sure if that'd suit people.

PS - I'm logged in, but it still won't let me take the survey?

I think the book club is a great idea, even if only for good environmental book suggestions. I read Animal, Vegetable, Miracle after seeing it here, and really enjoyed it. definitely a shorter reading schedule!

(It won't let me answer the survey either, but count my vote as yes!)

Anyone have a suggestion for the next book?

Ditto on the survey issue.

I posted affirmative to continuing the club on the survey just now.

I agree about the shorter schedule though. I got the book from the library way after others and still finished it at least a few weeks earlier.

Pollan's "In Defense of Food"? This looks good too: "The Ecology of Commerce" by Paul Hawken.
