We noticed it this weekend while watching a tear-inducing episode of Extreme Home Makeover; we always appreciate that those folks work green facets into their remarkably rapid remodels.
E-log siding is made to look just like real timber, but is actually engineered insulation covered with a hardwood veneer. According to the e-log fact page, for each 8-foot log you would need to make a real log cabin, 80 pieces of e-log siding could be made!
In addition to its smart use of natural resources, the siding is made to offer top-of-the-line insulation, saving energy costs for the homeowner. It's a win-win situation. So, if you're considering a cabin in the woods, be sure to look into this environmentally sound alternative.

Veneer? Total ugh. Get some sustainably-grown wood and feel good about having a wooden house.
