Etsy Find: Reusable Lavender Dryer Sachets

refabulous.jpg

Dryer sheets are nice in theory (who doesn't want soft, sweet-smelling clothes?), but those disposable sheets certainly aren't the greenest option -- and it's hard to find one that isn't soaked in artificial fragrance. So I fell in love when I came across these reusable lavender dryer sachets from Etsy seller ReFabulous. Simply toss one sachet in the dryer with your clothes and the heat will disperse the scent throughout your laundry...

For $8 you get a set of 3 sachets handmade and hand-stitched in reclaimed fabric.

Each sachet:

  • will scent approximately 10 loads of laundry

  • has a generous 1/2 cup of lavender buds in each one

  • is made from reclaimed (and thoroughly cleaned) fabrics that have been tested for color-fastness and durability.

  • double-stitched edges for durability -- no escaping buds in your dryer!

  • measures 7 inches by 4.25 inches (17.8 cm by 10.8 cm.)

Also, once the scent begins to fade, put a few drops of lavender on it and then place it in a drawer or closet to lightly scent your linens. You don't ever have to throw it away!

Dryer sheets? They don't even sell those here. Never heard of in my life. Sounds like a silly and unnecessary product. Reusable lavender pouches sounds nicer, but still, I fail to see the point. I've survived all my life without dryer sheets ;D

Herzleid, they're supposed to be used if you don't use fabric softener to help avoid static buildup. Not a problem, generally, if you don't have a lot of synthetic fabric to deal with.

Trader Joe's sells lavender sachet for the drier, too. Not as nice as these, but there if people are interested.

Also, one of the active ingredients in dryer sheets is animal tallow -- also known as animal fat. Not what I want on my clothing. I control static with a light mist of water.

How is using a dryer green anyway? And even if sachets last ten loads, that's still a disposable product! Why not just put the sachet in the cupboard with your sheets and scent your sheets that way?
