Artificial fragrances may smell good, but some can be hazardous to your health. There are an estimated 3,000-plus chemicals used to manufacture artificial fragrances, which can build up in your home and your body. Amen. I'm sensitive to just about every artificial fragrance made. A third of the chemicals used by the industry are toxic.

while i think they can go a bit overboard, it really does make you think about everything you put on your body.

There are quit a few trade-offs with synthetic and natural materials - overexposure to any chemical you're meant to be around - even the natural ones - can get dangerous/cause you to develop allergy. Case in point, overexposure to lavender and tea tree oil can raise estrogen levels in men to a dangerous degree.
That said, for the most part we KNOW what's in natural extracts and pretty much how they got there. It's definitely not an advantage we enjoy with synthetics, at least not in the US. I'd love to see a complete list of the materials actually used to make synthetics, how they're made, and where they came from all the way down to there point of origin - I'm guessing that while most isn't that bad, the cheap stuff is also the bad stuff and that's what we see the most of.
