If you're as swept up in spring as we are, you know all about the insatiable urge to clean everything, from the baseboards to everything on that top shelf we never get to.
And along with cleaning come cleaning agents. We all know how important it is to use biodegradable, earth-friendly cleansers, and here at AT we've brought you lots of recipes to make your own. So why not have friends over for a cleanser-making party? Jump below for a roundup of homemade cleanser recipes and ideas for throwing a cleaner part-ay!
Have one buddy with a bulk store membership membership? Put him to use and ask him to buy large containers of baking soda, borax, and vinegar, which are present in most of the recipes. Keep the receipt and divide the bill among your guests.
Ask your guests to bring the appropriate number of containers for what they want to make, and in case they come up short, scour thrift shops for used airtight plasticwares suitable for the cleaners.
If you're feeling particularly party-wise, come up with a theme for your party and give each guest a themed detergent scoop (at our party, we'll plan on going retro, so we'll be on the lookout for vintage scoops at the local thrift shops) or a theme-y favor of some sort.
Have some ingredients on hand, like essential oils, salt, citric acid (here's a great tip: instead of citric acid, you can use Unsweetened Lemonade-Flavored Kool-Aid--just be sure that's the only flavor you employ), etc., and tools like spatulas, a food processor, and scoops.
Then get crackin' on your homemade cleaning agents! Here's a quick roundup of recipes from Re-Nest:

YES! I am having one this month. And we are not buying the kit from the organization that promotes this idea with $20 in paper materials. I am using the resource of non-toxic household cleaners from my alma mater's Campus Center for Appropriate Technology. I will also check out your links. I love these parties.
