Seed Orbs by Richard Solomon

Artist and environmentalist Richard Solomon (locally known in New Mexico as the Seed Shaman) has been turning seeds and plants in to works of art for years. His newest creation is the seed orb: glass encapsulated plant buds which capture the natural bloom of a plant forever...

Working out of his studio in New Mexico, it took Solomon several years of trial and error to create the process of capturing buds in glass. The process starts with cutting the natural buds before they open. Then they are sorted and placed in water. As they begin to open, Solomon takes them out of water and places them into the glass ball.

Orbs are available for order via Solomon's Web site for $10 each.

Very cool, but $10 seems to be the wholesale price, if you order a case of 48 :(
