Day 7. Green Package Padding

  • Our friends recently bought a paper shredder which is perfect for creating padding for packages from junk mail. I wouldn't recommend buying one for this purpose alone, but chances are you know someone with one or have one at work.

I have been saving Starbucks bags for months and a bag of shredded paper I got this summer from something that was shipped to me. It was my goal to have "reclaimed" packaging. Look at my flickr image... whatta ya think?

Yes, I have mentioned before on another post, I love using shredded paper as a packaging medium. To me, it's the best way to reuse shredder paper waste.

you can also use shredded paper as ribbon and to make a pretty cool "bow". I make a shredded paper snowball, squish it tight (not too tight), then tape an "X" on the bottom of the ball to hold most of the paper together. Then attach a loop (or double sided tape) to stick it on the package. The bits and pieces come loose so it looks more festive. It looks really great w butcher paper and even betten when you have multicolored paper shreds.
