A Few Things To Do With Empty Egg Shells

What do you do with your empty egg shells? We always toss them into our food scrap recycling bin. However, if we had a garden, we might use them there (we keep hearing about how good they are for plants). They're also good for a couple other things. Strange things ...

Like we said, you can crush them up and use them in your garden.
This is seasonally inappropriate, but you can make earth-friendly Cascarones.
You can use them to make Egg Shell Sidewalk Chalk (we kid you not).
You can use them as tiny seed-starter pots. Cute!

Do you do anything strange/wonderful with your egg shells?

I read once on apartmenttherapy about cleaning inside hard-to-reach bud vases or glass bottles with small necks by crushing egg shells and swishing them with some soapy water. It really works!

I feed my eggshells back to my chickens. They love them and it makes them produce stronger shells.
