Even though we still occasionally forget to take our reusable bags to the grocery store, it's not for lack of bags. Now we have too many tote bags, actually. So it was fun to stumble upon this cool idea for reusing them as throw pillows...

This little craft project from NotCot actually looks easy enough that we'd feel comfortable tackling it. Simply take an old pillow, or pillow insert, shove it into a tote bag you don't use (preferably one with a cool design) and sew it up.
Now the most important question: To keep the bag handles or to remove them?

Keep them and hang a hook near the sofa. Then, when you want to stretch out, you can hang the pillows up instead of throwing them on the floor.
However, if you have small children or pets, you may can other concerns and need to snip off the handles.

Keep the handles on so you can take your cushion/pillow with you. :) They'd be great for theater seats, ballpark seats, picnics, back support, etc.

I love, love, love this idea! And since I have about a zillion tote bags I'm not going to use (aside from the ones I use for shopping, of course, I'm really going to put this one into practice in the near future. We have some beat-up old pillows that need new covers, so I'm really going to try this! And I think I'll leave the handles on. I just like the idea of paying homage to the original purpose of the bag :)
