Inspiration: Vintage Tea Packing Chest Kitchen Cabinets

Discovered in a three floor Victorian house in Shoreditch, London, the exterior of these kitchen cabinets are actually lids of vintage tea packing chests...

Tea packing chests date from the 1930s-60s and these chests, complete with old pressed metal handles, were turned into a veneer and applied to cabinet doors and drawers. Currently, the cabinets are unfinished but the builders have plans to finish balancing the graphics and then seal them in a thick gloss finish.

This with white terrazzo counters and a black rubber floor would look amazing!

The handles do nothing for this look. A rough hemp rope handle would work better.

Looks nice but isn't it a bit splintery?
