tomtlogo.jpgWe discovered T.O.M.T. when we saw them on TIME's Green Design 100 list (which Re-nest is also on!). T.O.M.T is the work of Brooklyn-based Rodney Allen Trice who takes found objects and turns them into extraordinary home accessories and appliances. Ultimately, he says his work is about "ordinary objects — and people, and places — that really aren’t so ordinary when you look at them the right way." Jump below to see some of our favorites...

From the website:

T.O.M.T. is dedicated to object recovery and reassignment on “God’s Green Earth.” That’s why we’re here, and as we grow, it continues to be an interesting journey! Though recycling seems to be the obvious mission, we prefer the term “refitting.” Our process is more “object career counseling” than waste-handling. Simplicity is paramount, and integrity to both mid-century modern aesthetics and the original object’s first identity a must.

Items shown above the jump, from left to right:

Prop Blade Ceiling Fixture
Small Shovel Shelf
The Lite Light (made of stainless steel kettle)
Luggage End Tables
Circuit Board Mail Holder

You can also take a class from Trice. The one currently in session is called Applied Deconstruction 101. See more cool stuff over at T.O.M.T's website.
