If you have the resources to go all out and make your home as green as possible, what might it look like? We always like to catch a glimpse inside LEED-certified homes and be inspired by what's possible. This LEED Platinum home in Eugene Oregon, the Sage, received a LEED score of 110 points — the highest score west of the Rocky Mountains and the first LEED Platinum home in Eugene, Oregon. The home isn't actually occupied. It was designed by Arbor South Architecture, PC as a demonstration home meant to give clients and the public an idea of what you can achieve through sustainable design and green building...
The home is actually not that large. At only 1,447 square-feet, it still boasts an amazing list of green materials and resources:
• Advanced double 2x4 framed walls w/ foam insulation
• Active solar water heating and solar photovoltaics
• High efficiency electrical heat pump/natural cooling
• Heat recovery ventilator and Energy Star appliances
• Drought resistant landscaping and rainwater collection
• Efficient low-flow faucets and dual-flush toilets
• Reclaimed lumber flooring and recycled cork floors
• FSC wood cabinets w/ recycled paper countertops
• High-efficiency windows oriented for natural light
• Accent siding reclaimed from Cuthbert Amphitheater
• Zero VOC paints throughout the house
The price tag for the house is $450,000, and Arbor South estimates that it took an extra $50,000-$60,000 to build it to such a high environmental standard.

Thanks for your article about our home! Some notes to keep in mind as people look at the added costs: first, theSAGE qualifies for almost $26,000 in tax credits and utility incentives.
PLUS, our utility costs are estimated for our area to be about $30 per month, saving close to $100 per month. At current mortgage rates, that alone will buy about $20,000 in additional mortgage.
So the added costs aren't that bad!
