Green Power: ConEd and PG&E

Clean, renewable energy. Some might say that reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by finding and supporting alternative, clean, renewable energy is the most important green thing we can do.

And, if you're a PG&E or ConEd customer, it's not a daunting task.

With PG&E's "Climate Smart" program and ConEd's "ConEd Solutions" -- getting and supporting clean energy can be as simple as clicking your mouse and spending a few extra bucks.

But what do you do if you're a renter and have no control over the utilities provided to you by your landlord?

We met a PG&E representative at West Coast Green who said she simply mentioned the program to her landlord and offered to pay the difference, which, she said, is about $5 dollars a month.

Do you have the option of paying for clean energy in your hometown? How has the service worked for you so far?

(Note: The ConEd and PG&E programs are slightly different. With ConEd you are literally buying wind or a mixture of wind and hydropower, while PG&E's program works more like a carbon offset.)
