We're really going back and forth on this one. A part of us thinks it's a neat little contraption that would encourage people to unplug their unused appliances. Another part of us thinks its another piece of unnecessary plastic.

We unplug our toaster, coffee pot, coffee grinder, and microwave almost every morning before we leave for work (sometimes we forget). The plugs just sit on the counter, so the Hang On Outlet would keep everything a bit more tidy.
But is it necessary? Would you like something like this on your outlets?

If one is going to swap out an entire outlet for this purpose, why not just go the extra step and get one with a switch, so you can just keep things plugged in?

I'm definitely leaning toward "another piece of unnecessary plastic". Realistically, if you're going to keep appliances unplugged when they aren't used, you don't need a little hook to remind you to do so. And if you do need that reminder, you aren't likely to go through the trouble.
I only do this with energy wasters that I don't often use, whose plugs are easily accessible; e.g. the microwave, toaster oven, etc. are always unplugged, and I plug them in for each use.

I can see this being helpful for the outlets that are hard to reach and where dropping the plug ensures 10 minutes of Elastic Man stretching to retrieve said plug from dark, dusty places. (My dryer comes to mind - drop the plug and I'd never find it again)

I think it would be better to just have plugs higher like lilyc mentioned, and i like my plug ins to have shock proetection, so i couldnt see myself really using this.
