How Much Do You Support Stores That Use Clean Energy?

22109greenpower.jpgIf you know a shop uses alternative energy, are you more likely to shop there? Even if it's more expensive?

This sign is hanging in a tiny, sandwich/deli shop in our neighborhood. We get coffee and lunch there sometimes, but we tend not to buy any groceries there--they're significantly more than the deli down the street.

But we started thinking about the sign, and how, with the recession, we're trying to make extra effort to support businesses whose practices we respect. (We don't want anyone to go out of business, and then regret that we should have shopped there more often.)

Have you seen these signs before? Do they influence you?

When I am aware of the fact that a business uses clean energy and eco friendly practices... I definitely have a lot more respect for them. Being eco friendly can be more expensive for a business, and kind of frightening to some who don't know how easy it can be, so I don't mind spending more money. We really need to step it up and support these small businesses that are making a move in the right direction. I wish I knew of more eco friendly stores...
