Lehr Eco Trimmer

Gasoline-powered yard tools are notorious for having poor emissions, but the alternative, electric powered tools, are often underpowered or inconvenient. Eco Tech Daily has done a wonderful writeup on the Lear Eco Trimmer. It retails for $219.00 and was found to be powerful and efficient, running for two hours on a single bottle of propane.

Pros:

  • 95% less released pollutants
  • Consistent, solid power
  • Easy to use and load with propane bottles
  • Solid and well made construction
  • 4 stroke engine means it can handle tall grass and weeds
  • Has the ability to interchange different lawn-care attachments

Good option. I have an electric that works ok for my small lawn, but would be a pain for anything larger.

I believe Coleman actually has a program in place to refill the old bottles, or, and I'm not sure I recommend it, you could follow this Instructables.
