More on: Recycled Denim Insulation

You might recognize this photo. It's from a recent house tour, Lynne's Green Historic Restoration.

This photo was taken just outside of her kitchen -- you're looking at Lynne's truth window. A truth window is commonly used in straw bale construction, so that skeptics can actually look at the straw inside the walls. Instead of straw, Lynne is showing off her recycled blue jean insulation.

In the comments on Lynne's tour, one reader asked to know more about recycled denim insulation.

We're happy to supply a little more info: Bonded Logic, as far as we know, is the No 1 place to get recycled blue jean insulation. UltraTouch, Bonded Logic's recycled denim product, has a Class-A fire rating, it's soft (not itchy, so it's easy to install), it doesn't contain any formaldehyde, and it utilizes over 85% recycled denim and cotton fibers. Use this distributor locator to find where you can get Bonded Logic's products in your state.

We don't have exact numbers on the price, but we know it is more expensive than traditional insulation. Has anyone purchased blue jean insulation recently? If you don't mind sharing how much you paid for it, we're all interested to know.

Get most of your questions answered via the UltraTouch FAQ.
