The Piet Stove: A Smoke-Free Indoor Ethanol Stove

This portable, clean burning, installation free stove is one of a kind. Designed to be used like an electric area heater, it burns ethanol, a clean burning and stable fuel source...

Designed by Fredrik Hylten-Cavallius, the Piet stove, named after Danish architect and mathematician Piet Hein, is shaped like an ellipse to better reflect the heat it produces. The stove is comprised of a ceramic outer shell, behind which a layer of rockwool fire insulation keeps the shell from getting too hot, and a heat reflector to radiant heat out of the egg like stove. Since the fuel source is ethanol, there's no installation or connection needed. Simply fill the fuel reservoir, and light.

Now if only we could buy one ...

That looks amazing, but a total fire hazard. I could imagine bumping into that thing and accidentally setting my house on fire.

I have a wood burning fireplace that I am unable to convert to gas. Does anyone know of a product to retrofit an existing wood burning fireplace to ethanol burning?
