Faucet manufacturer Moen has introduced a new aerator that lets water flow at 1.5 gallons per minute [GPM] rather than the more typical 2.25 GPM. (An aerator is the little thing with the screen on the faucet; it mixes air into the water so that it splashes less.) Sure, it's good looking... but perhaps you don't want to replace your entire faucet to save water.
We found a 1.5 GPM aerator for $5.95 over at EarthEasyShop.com, which should fit onto many bathroom faucets.
One caveat: Moen claims its new aerator still provides a strong water flow, which means the faucet design mixes air with water especially well. We haven't used either, but one of our favorite water-saving devices is this $9 low-tech tap saver: it stops the water flowing and turns any faucet into a 0 GPM model!
