About a week ago, we realized our shower was leaking. It was a subtle sort of leak, but it was a leak and it was wasting water. And, right now, here in the Bay Area, we're taking that sort of thing pretty seriously.
We knew immediately that fixing the leak was something we weren't going to be able to do on our own. So we called our landlords (who are fantastic and who just live upstairs).
They hopped into action immediately.
The plumber was here the next morning. He was great, friendly. He spent some time in the bathroom, came out looking successful, told us the leak was fixed, and went on his way. Problem was, the leak wasn't fixed; it was slowed.
Tip #1: Some leaks are very slow. So, before you let your plumber leave your property, stand patiently in front of your sink or shower for a good solid 4-5 minutes.
The plumber came back today and located the problem. He'll be back tomorrow with the appropriate part. In the meantime, we're collecting the dripping water in a bucket so that our landlords can use it to water their vegetable garden.
Tip #2: Own a bucket and use it to collect dripping water until you can get your leaky faucet/showerhead fixed.

I'd recommend that you make sure that your plumber knows your fixture. For our part, Moen certifies plumbers on our products, so you can be sure that they'll find and address the problem quickly. You can find a list of Moen certified plumbers here:
