We've posted about reusing 2-liter soda bottles to capture insects before, and this video includes it amongst their top 8 tips for reusing the common soda bottle for other uses before you chuck it into recycling (we hope). We especially like the self-watering pot planter; we'd just hide the bottle using a tall planter, and voilà, you have a low-maintenance garden.

seems a bit weird to encourage the use of herbicide while "reusing" a soda bottle. Probably a lot easier to just pull the weed.
Although, I have used a soda bottle in that capacity, without the lid, as a little bell jar in the garden for frost sensitive seedlings.
