I grow herbs in a 23 gallon oak fish tank that had been empty of fish for quite awhile. It's lovely to look at, and since I don't get much sun, gives the plants the light they need with the full spectrum bulbs.

Terrariums are nice decoration but ... I prefer an aquarium. Watching the fish swim around is one of my most peaceful pastimes.
