Top 5 Gardening Mistakes

Avoid these easy missteps, and watch your garden grow! Jump below for our Top 5 mistakes to avoid, and add your own...

1. Purchasing plants that are in bloom

2. Allowing weeds to seed.

3. Planting too early, with not enough space between plants, or not planting deep enough. Plants grow, and they need space to do so!

4. Using too much fertilizer. Too much food for anything is never healthy.

5. Over or under watering. Make sure to water deeply—enough to create a reservoir underneath the bed. And never water during the hottest part of the day.

I'm quite often guilty of over watering and planting too close together!

If you buy a plant with blooms on it, nip them off when you transplant it in order to allow the plant to focus on developing its root system in its new home. It will bloom again, and be healthier when it does.
