apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Vegetable Garden Using Repurposed Furniture

When we moved out of our last apartment, we left behind a few items that we were too lazy to load on to the truck. Yeah, we know...very poor form. But we also left behind some crazy crafty roommates. We were invited over last night for an impromptu dinner and got a sneak peek at the latest backyard project.

Our ex-roomie is the reigning queen of clever and her latest endeavor is a budding vegetable garden housed in our discarded furnishings. She sawed a large gardening bench in two (it had seen better days) and attached a box to the top of the bottom half. The leftover top section become an outdoor side table.

We took a few more pictures of the backyard-patio-gone-renegade-vegetable-garden 'cause it's looking so purdy these days....

That's great! I love the green paint on the planter box - it makes it look so cheerful while you're waiting for the real greens to come up.

I was worried when I saw the title that it was going to be one of those gardens where people plant marigolds in their old toilet and tub, but this is much better. ;)

I like this post! Clever reuse often gets overlooked for the snazziest new green product.
