Marfa Brands got its start with handmade soaps. Then, about two years ago, creator Ginger Griffice started making glassware out of reused glass bottles from nearby Mexico. In Mexico, the bottles are reused again and again, not recycled as they are here. Ginger, who makes occasional runs to the border to purchase empties, offers a little insight into the ins-and-outs of Mexican glass bottles after the jump...

"I prefer the thicker glass and the beat-up look of the Topo Chicos [mineral water bottles] (and they don't have that nutrition info that the US bottles do)... The Cerveza Sol bottles are 7oz beer bottles, so they make fantastic little tequila glasses with character."
Marfa Brands sells locally in Marfa, Texas and will do small small shipments of the glassware, which is available in gift-boxed sets of four.
