Q: My grandpa was diagnosed with Celiac's Disease about a year ago, and since then he has seen health major benefits with a gluten-free diet.
However, he and my grandma have had a hard time finding a lot of resources on cooking tasty gluten-free meals at home that would satisfy his bread-loving roots. I often forward them gluten-free posts on The Kitchn, but could you recommend any other blogs or cookbooks on the subject?

Editor: Erica, here are a few gluten-free blogs that we really enjoy. Maybe readers can suggest some cookbooks? (We have a review of a gluten-free baking book coming up soon, too!)

Gluten Free on a Shoestring as well:

There are some very good gluten-free cookbooks-- worth getting a few to cover your bases. I just got "Gluten-Free Baking with The Culinary Institute of America" which has some excellent recipes, though their flour mixes are too heavy on rice flour, which imparts a very, um, "gluten-free" flavor...;)
Also, editor: that's a very poor image choice for this post. Celiac disease is no joke.

Made these pancakes last night, everyone loved them- you grind your whole grains in the blender with liquid, instead of starting with flour. I used wheat and oats, but you can substitute any appropriate grain. Yummy!

@salsa...what joke? It's a question about avoiding wheat flour, the picture is of wheat flour...I'm not sure I see an issue there.

@myrnie, interesting recipe! Oats can be tricky for those with celiac though:

As for the picture, um, flour is poison to people with celiac disease! It's like showing a big bowl of sugar next to recipes for diabetics, or a big pile of meat next to vegetarian recipes-- it's missing the red circle with a line across it.

Almost all of the recipes on this site are gluten free as one of her children can't tolerate it.
I have found it to be funny and most of the recipes I have tried are very tasty...
