How To Refinish This Antique Metal Floor Lamp?
Good Question

antique-lamp.jpgQ: I purchased a metal floor lamp which, as you can see, is totally coated in rust. I am not sure how to go about returning it to its original state, in part because I'm not sure what its original state would have been. If anyone could tell me anything about it, I'd be grateful — especially what sort of finish it should have, and an eco-friendly way to achieve it, if such a thing exists.

I have a lamp that looks similar and also need refinishing. My lamp has a brass pole but the top and the base look like a metal, slightly rusting. Mine has residual paint that almost looks like it was enameled at one point. Some day I might paint mine but I'm sure it will never look spectacular without more help.
