This question comes from Sam:
Can you guys help me find a eco-friendly laptop sleeve? Everything I've found is either too small for my computer or too expensive. I have a SONY VAIO with a 15in screen (laptop size is 11 x 14.5 inches), and my price range is $30 or less. I'm looking for a sleeve, not a bag, but possibly something with an external pocket or pouch to hold the power cord and other cables. What can you recommend?

Sam,

This probably isn't exactly what you're looking for -- but how about this DIY FedEx Envelope Laptop Sleeve? It's definitely affordable.

Does anyone else have other suggestions?

I have a big Timbuk2 bag from a couple of years ago when they were offering organic cotton/hemp fabric. So I was almost sad when I found these laptop sleeves on Simple Shoes' website. Organic cotton and they're on sale for $15! If you go to the main sale page they have a smaller sleeve as well. And some awesome envelope-style organic cotton wallets—which I did buy.

The best place to search for something like this is on Etsy . In a qucik search under "laptop recycled" I found over 5 pages of options. Here's one laptop sleeve , a recycled event poster, waterproof and aesthetically interesting. With Etsy, if you write directly to the seller they will often create a custom piece for your specific needs (dimensions, style, extra pockets). And shopping directly from the seller for handmade recyled gear is a nice green alternative to big manufacturers.
