How To Turn a Door Into a Table?
Good Questions

door-table.jpgQ: I have a 3 feet by 7 foot door I would like to make into a dining room table. Any ideas or pictures of this type of project?

Editor: We have no pictures, but we have some serious experience with this sort of project. Right after college, in our very first apartment we made a table (actually more of a kitchen island) out of a door and two matching thrift store bookshelves.

The bookshelves were the "legs" of the table (and provided extra kitchen storage space) and the door simply rested on top.

Design*Sponge has a "door-turned-table" DIY project. You could also check out this eHow instructional. That's probably a good place to start.

Does anyone else have suggestions on how to turn a door into a table?

You could use tall wire plant stands as legs. Attach them with some kind of bracket to the underside for stability.

I have a desk made with a door, and I use file cabinets underneath.

IKEA makes table legs that bolt up to their tabletops that you could probably use, or check out this guy who makes hairpin and tubular steel legs:
