Tiamat the Red left this question on today's post about Wintree Laundry Detergent -- we thought we'd put it out here in the hopes that readers can make a recommendation or two:

Are there any good unscented laundry detergents available? I'm sensitive to fragrances (in part because I just don't like some of them but a few trigger migraines and/or rashes) and have been using Tide Free happily for years.

Method offers an unscented laundry detergent -- we've never tried the unscented variety, but have been happy with their other (scented) detergents. Can anyone recommend other green, unscented laundry detergents (or vouch for the Method version)?

I buy everything unscented because synthetic fragrances jack up my sinuses.

Method makes a fantastic detergent that I've been using for years. Their hand and dish soaps are also great.

I use seventh generation, method, and ecover -- all unscented as my primary non-vinegar cleaning agents and am very happy.

Hope this helps!

I use Method's Free and Clear laundry detergent and I think it works fine. Granted, my laundry isn't usually very dirty, so I'm probably not testing it to its full stain/dirt fighting abilities.

charlie's soap is good - you just use one tablespoon. also ecover or trader joe's.

I use Nature Clean, it's hypoallergenic, biodegrades 99% within 28 days and is (the only laundry detergent) endorsed by Environment Canada.

Seconding (thirding?) Method's unscented Free & Clear, which I use in my HE washer. Love it.

I'm sensitive to fragrance as well. I've had good results with both 7th Generation and Ecover but lately I've switched to using soap nuts. They smell a little in their "raw" state but leave no fragrance whatsoever on my laundry.

i second Seventh Generation Unscented. I love it.

For REALLY dirty laundry, I throw in a bit of white vinegar as bleach. For fabric softner, I use a tiny portion of Method's fabric softner diluted with water.

A.. fourth? one for Method's free & clear. I'm also allergic to scented items and used Dreft baby detergent for years.. Method's liquid free & clear also says it is also good for high efficiency washing machines & I've had no problems with the switch to Method.

I get a great natural laundry detergent from showertreatsoap's etsy shop. It's handmade, all natural, and makes your clothes soft and clean, and you just use a tiny amount, so it ends up being fairly inexpensive. They have a lot of scents you can add, but you could just specify you'd like it unscented. Seriously, the nicest laundry soap I've ever used.
